There were some problems with China Telecom in the past several days, I could not access my blog site for almost a week. However, there was no problem if I went through China Mobile or China Unicom.
It seems China Telecom blocked access to several the GoDaddy DNS servers, I don’t know the exact reason behind the scene, but obviously there were something …
Anyway, good to see my site’s back.
I built a captcha for a friend a while back for a shopping site, obviously it was too simple to be corrupted so I built this new one last night. It was not perfect though, as I don’t have enough knowledge to create dynamic fonts.
Under Ubuntu it is easy to get things work – install php5-gd, luckily it brought couple of fonts and then the script works like a charm. Under my friend’s machine I need to install some extra packages to get TrueType fonts, but it is not that hard.
Let’s see how this works, I believe the captcha is a little bit hard to be read, but it can block spammers.
Log onto my server and it reminded me new release of Ubuntu is ready.
Upgrading now, will post anything good/bad/special later on.
It’s time to go back work, National Day long holiday is ending.
At least I had some good sleep during the long holiday, also get some sort of “inner peace” after having the good sleep :). It seems labor work (most of them are yard work) helps a lot to get me good sleep, I will see if I can get some labor work or body exercise whenever I get back to Shanghai.
It will be a tough month to me as I need to finish some hard steps to re-org the team, some stuffs had been done and it seems really hurt, but like it or not, I need to get rest done in a week or two, and make everyone in the team to focus on new business.
To myself actually this is a good opportunity to practice those skills though I had tried before, painful learning curve.
