I’m in the middle of moving some stuffs to Amazon AWS, and the first project is moving back up of my friend’s web site to Amazon as it gets no online access and data volume is not that big. The test seems good so far with my (first year) free AWS S3, I will stop current backup plan which sending data to my personal server in a week or two.

Amazon did great job to ease usage of AWS at least for S3, and based on my limited experience on EC2 it is not that hard to deploy but I still need to figure out how difficult it is to deploy multiple instances in a programable way as this will be the most reasonable way to get things done.

I’m currently on AWS Free Usage Tier, good way to evaluate how much I’m going to spend in a serious project.

HTC G10 reminded me to upgrade Android and after ~20 minutes I’m running 2.3.5 now.

Well, not that much improved from my limited experience except some cool UI effects, I will spend some more time to figure out if there is anything new or fun.

I spent almost two hours to sort out what’s the best wifi network solution for me – I have two Linksys and one Airport Express, obviously too many options gave me too much troubles to do all tests.

Finally I turn one (older), Linksys WRT54G2, running 802.11 B and G, and the other one (newer), E1000, running 802.11 N, it looks good so far.

I had to take the Kindle Fire all around the house to figure out the signal strength is good enough everywhere that I used to stay, it’s amazing that now we have so many mobile devices to deal with all sort of stuffs.

Also I found that I have way to many wireless devices at home – 3 laptops, 4 mobile phones, 2 eReaders (Kindle and Bambook), 2 game consoles, 2 Pads (iPad and Kindle Fire) and 1 television. I wish I didn’t miss anything. I’ve already raise the limit of DHCP client from 20 to 50 to avoid potential boost clients in case of party time or something similar, wish everybody comes in only with one mobile phone, hehe.

Ok, let’s talk about kindle fire.

It’s cheaper than most Android based tablets (now they are called Pad), but it is powerful enough to be a daily pad for me – email, reading, surfing, and occasional gaming. The screen is big enough to make reading experience comfortable, while it is small enough to slide into my pockets.

Something not quite good – it’s heavy, and hard to hold tightly in hands. I think I need to get a good case to make it easy to hold. Also, lack of Chinese input method is another issue. People posted several ways to get it, but I’d rather like to wait for Amazon’s next update.

Let’s see what we have now from the Christmas – a Bambook, a Kindle, a Kindle Fire, a Samsung phone (running Windows Phone), pretty much all popular mobile devices are in my house now (yes, iPhone and iPad came from last year).

I can say all mobile OS’s are good enough, though iOS is having better operational features, Aneroid is rich of free Apps, and Windows Phone is just … cute? Sorry I don’t know what can exactly describe it, but its look and feel is nice.

I think I need to spend some time follow Windows Phone while playing with iOS and Android, will be busy.

(This post was sent from Kindle Fire with WordPress App for Android.)

I still have 2500 mails in my inbox to be distributed into different folders, which is a headache to me. However it is also a good exercise to learn how I was behaving in the past one and half years.

BTW, I think I need to tweet now, it is not a good idea to make my blog too short – kind of unprofessional ๐Ÿ˜€ .

Life may be a circle, but I wish it is not a flat circle ๐Ÿ™‚ .

I’m packing now, walking in the nearly empty apartment I found that it looks like whenever I just moved in 18 months ago. I cannot believe I moved in so many stuffs that after several times of flying back to Beijing with big suitcase, plus 4 pack of clothes, and 3 boxes of miscellaneous goodies, I still have enough to fill up two suitcase that will fly back to Beijing with me week after the next.

I wish my career life won’t be a circle either but seems to be some sort of true ๐Ÿ™ . Good thing is that after acting as different management roles, I found out that I can deal with engineering and production jobs easier but not business positions, at all. However, 18 months experience gave me great confidence on dealing with brand new teams, while I was really not good at this in old days.

I wish my technical skills can be a circle ๐Ÿ˜› . I’m playing with NetBeans to do Android development, while Xcode for OSX and iOS. There is not much progress so far but I do wish I can pick client side development as soon as possible.

Jumping between US and China, I think the most significant change is that I’m now feeling comfortable with travelling around, even to a strange place.

Too much to say … in two weeks I’m going back to US, wish everything will be fine and I’m going to planning for my next 10 years.

Stay tuned.
